In 1964 paintings by a chimpanzee were displayed in a Swedish art gallery pseudonym “Pierre Brasau”, supposedly an unknown french artist. The paintings were praised by critics, one of which went as far as to say “Pierre is an artist who performs with the delicacy of a ballet dancer.”

There’s a surgery that claims to change the color of your eyes. The surgery involves taking a laser and burning away the melanin layer of your iris. Over the course of a few weeks, your eyes naturally turn from brown to blue as the damaged melanin is removed by your body.

The Slinky was invented by accident, when a Mechanical Engineer was working to devise springs that could keep sensitive ship equipment steady at sea. After accidentally knocking some samples off a shelf, he watched in amazement as they gracefully “walked” down instead of falling.

28 fossils of the largest extinct species of snake were discovered in a coal mine of Columbia. The “Titanoboa” lived about 65 million years ago. The species clocked out at about 48 feet long and weighed roughly 2,500 lb.

Guest Designer Search - JANUARY 2018

Hello amazingly talented friends!

Here is your chance to be a part of the Paper Smooches team for a month!

Our Guest Designer will receive our new stamps and dies, get a blog badge and will have their name and projects featured here on the PS blog for a month.

You will have approx. two weeks to show us your talent!  You can submit as many projects as you like and past submissions are welcome.  Guest designers are not chosen randomly.  We will be looking for designers who stand out in one (or more) of the following categories:
      ·        great use of color
·        outstanding design
·        mad coloring skills
·        fun paper piecing
·        pure cleverness
You will need to use a Paper Smooches stamp, die or any of our FREE digi stamps.  You can submit to our call with "old and new" projects...and projects that you create for our SPARKS Challenge are perfectly acceptable..

The deadline is Wednesday, December 20
Our guest designer will be announced on December 21
If you have tried out in the past...I hope you reapply - We LOVE looking at your beautiful creations.

Welcome to our Paper Smooches monthly challenge! 

Our new challenge begins today--- Friday, December 1st at 12:01am PST.
The deadline is Thursday, December 28th at 11:59pm PST.
Our PS Pro winner will be announced on December 29/30st.

This month's challenge is... WINTER!

****Be sure to incorporate PS stamps/dies. 
  • All skill levels are welcome.  You can enter as many times as you like!
  • Create a NEW project (card, tag, layout, altered item, etc).
  • You must use at least one Paper Smooches stamp or die - Please link to our web site:
  • Post your Paper Smooches Challenge project on your blog.  If you do not have a blog, please upload your project to our Splitcoaststampers Gallery (use keywords: papersmooches) or our Flickr Gallery and link to our web site in your description. ***Submit a direct link to your gallery image using our linking system.
